Darlene Diemer – Founder & Owner
Darlene Diemer, Enrolled Agent, is the Founder and Owner of Diemer Accounting, Inc., a firm she started out of her home in 1992. Her favorite client is one who feels lost or overwhelmed when it comes to their accounting or QuickBooks® tasks. Her main goal is to streamline the various “chores” of her client’s day-to-day business operations, which results in more profit for her clients.
Darlene and her team work with a variety of companies, and some of their most recent projects include the completion of several setups for QuickBooks Online for newly formed companies, training of business owners in the operational uses of QuickBooks, clean-ups of bookkeeping records, and filing of Paycheck Protection Program loan applications.
Darlene is a Certified QuickBooks® Desktop ProAdvisor and a Certified QuickBooks® Online ProAdvisor. As an Enrolled Agent, she is licensed to represent clients with tax issues in front of the IRS and can assist clients nationwide.
Prior to launching her own company, Darlene worked for an accounting firm for ten years, and now has more than three decades of experience in the industry. Her own firm has grown in size, expanding from her home to an office with a staff of eight employees.
When Darlene isn’t working, she likes to spend time with her kids and grandkids. She is also an avid horse rider and has participated in the Michigan “Shore to Shore” ride event the past two years, which is a ten day trip where participants ride solely by horse from Lake Huron to Lake Michigan.
Amanda Groenink – Office Manager
Amanda Groenink began working for Diemer Accounting in 2008 as an accounting assistant. Drawing from over 10 years of previous experience, Amanda serves as the business’s office manager and organizational guru. She manages payroll, sales tax, bank reconciliations, posting, and generally keeping the office running smoothly. In her spare time, Amanda likes running, spending time with husband and daughter, playing with her puppy and going to the beach.
Debbie Brown – Accounting Manager
Debbie Brown has been with Diemer Accounting, Inc. since 2017, working as the company’s accounting and tax manager. She has more than 30 years of experience in the public accounting industry. She thoroughly enjoys the people she works with, as they feel more like family than co-workers, and is most passionate about being part of a team with a common goal of exceeding expectations and meeting challenging deadlines for wonderful clients.
Debbie’s main duties include monthly and annual accounting services, as well as individual and corporate tax planning and preparation. Debbie earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and a Baccalaureate degree in Accounting from the University of South Florida. She is also a certified public accountant (registered status).
Debbie loves to make people laugh, especially during stressful times. She has two daughters and two dogs, has lived in five different states, and when she’s not working, enjoys doing anything in or near water, such as boating or camping. She’s gone skydiving, passed the CPA exam on her very first try, received a military spouse appreciation award, gathers items and fills goodie bags for the homeless every year, and currently buys and delivers groceries to students at GVSU who are quarantined.
Angela Berry – Accounting Manager
Angela Berry joined the Diemer Accounting, Inc. team in January 2017, working as the company’s accounting manager. She is most passionate about helping others, including clients and fellow employees, and seeing the look of relief on clients’ faces when issues get resolved.
Angela’s general duties include monthly bookkeeping, special projects, and client support. She graduated from the Davenport University Honors Accounting Program, receiving both a Master’s degree and a Bachelor’s degree at the same time. She has two cats, loves bow hunting and watching reruns of Little House on the Prairie, and when she’s not working, can be found homeschooling her son. Angela previously showed 4-H animals (pigs and steers) at the local fair for 11 years and has a certificate from the Charis Bible College for completing the first year program.
Caity Hintz – Accounting Assistant
Caity Hintz joined the Diemer Accounting, Inc. team in February 2015, working as the company’s accounting assistant. She thoroughly enjoys interacting with clients and the continuous change in her day-to-day work. No two days’ duties are ever the same for her! She is most passionate about taking care of clients’ needs and helping them to ensure their business runs as smoothly as possible.
Caity’s general duties include conducting payroll and bank reconciliations, creating monthly reports, and servicing accounts payable. She earned an Associate’s degree in Accounting from Grand Rapids Community College. When she’s not working, she likes to sew and spend time with her husband and three kids.
Sandy McCallum – Accounting Assistant
Sandy McCallum has been with Diemer Accounting, Inc. since 2017, working as the company’s accounting assistant. Her general duties include payroll, monthly postings, and bank reconciliations.
When she’s not working, Sandy enjoys camping, shopping, reading, and spending time with her family and little dog, Daisy. Fun fact: Sandy is a bargain thrift shopper and loves finding those great deals.
Brenda VanZalen – Administrative Assistant
Brenda VanZalen joined the Diemer Accounting, Inc. team in January 2016, working as the company’s administrative assistant. She loves interacting with her co-workers and is most passionate about seeing clients succeed.
Brenda’s general duties include assisting with financial postings, accounts payable, any scanning, ordering, or filing that needs to be done throughout the office, and helping with client correspondence. When she’s not working, she enjoys reading, kayaking, boating, and camping.
Kim McCormick – Staff Accountant
Kim McCormick joined the Diemer Accounting, Inc. team in June 2020, working as the company’s staff accountant. She is most passionate about helping clients’ businesses succeed. Kim loves to solve puzzles and looks at her job as a daily puzzle, creating order out of a jumble of numbers and bits of information to find the right place for each piece. At the end, she achieves a whole and balanced financial picture.
Kim’s duties include working with a variety of clients, providing payroll services, bill paying, bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, monthly or quarterly reviews, and financial reporting. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Baker College. When she’s not working, Kim loves to read, camp, and thrift shop. She is also a pet lover and fosters senior and special-needs cats and dogs, as well as cares for her own motley crew of dogs. She has an interest in movies based on actual historical events, and her favorite film is Schindler’s List. Kim has a great sense of direction and is active in animal rescue and has helped with fundraising, event planning, grant writing, and bookkeeping.
